BIG NEWS!
Remember how Arkansas Senator Blanche Lincoln bragged to voters about
helping Joe Lieberman kill the public option? Remember when she said "I
don't answer to my party" in a TV ad during the Democratic primary? Well,
it's finally catching up with her.
A new poll shows Democratic primary challenger Lt. Gov. Bill Halter is
gaining on her -- for the first time, the race is now down to
single-digits!
[5]Can you help keep the momentum going by chipping in $4 to Halter's
campaign right now?
The new poll shows Lincoln ahead 38% to 31% with many voters still making
up their mind before next month's primary.
Another recent poll shows Blanche Lincoln losing to every potential
Republican. Bill Halter is already beating some of them, and his name
recognition and popularity are rising every week.
Bill Halter can win this race. That's why today we're announcing an
ambitious $100,000 fundraising goal to help him expand his grassroots
campaign in the final weeks. Every donation will help him hire more
organizers, open more field offices, and make sure everyone gets turned
out to vote.
[6]Can you chip in $4 to Halter's grassroots campaign today? Every dollar
helps us toward our goal.
Halter's victory will teach other Democratic candidates across the nation
that bold populism -- taking on the insurance companies and Wall Street
banks -- is the political winner in 2010.
But he needs your help to win in next month's primary. [7]Click here to
help out.
Thanks for being a bold progressive,

and the PCCC team

March 23, 2010
This is a historic day in health care reform. I helped support health care reform with a public option. Now, the bill goes to Reconcilliation for additions and omissions so I suppose there is still a chance for something meaningful to come out of this whole mess. However, I had to withdraw my Full Support for the health care reform bill when I read the 'Mandatory' participation language. President Obama, Senator Harry Reid (D-NV) and others continuously stated the absolute need for choice, yet 'Mandatory' participation is not a Chioce. The only choices being offered are to the corporations! As I stated in my e-mail to the White House on March 22, 2010, I refuse to be a part of the 'Mandatory' participation as it is both unconstitutional and un-American. How far do we, The People, have to be pushed before we take a stand and say NO MORE? I have had a lot of people call to ask me questions about the health care reform bill and I have provided them with as much information as I could so they can make their own informed decisions about the future of health care. I have also had a lot of people locally ask me questions about this and I tell them to speak with as many people as they can that have had both negative and positive experiences so, again, they can make their own informed decisions. During the signing of the new health care reform bill, President Obama made the statement that America does what is right. That Is A Lie! Our government does everything but what is right, especially what is right for The People. |

Copy of an e-mail I sent to the White House 03/22/10 about health care reform:
Your Health Care Reform IS A LIE!
The bill DOES NOT address quality, competent care.
The bill DOES NOT guarantee a patient WILL get the medications they must have to survive!
The bill DOES NOT provide patient protection against abuse and malpractice!
And, worse yet, the bill DOES MANDATE participation (for which I refuse to be a part of)!
Your bill DOES GUARANTEE that people like myself WILL DIE from a lack of proper, quality care!
Thank you for doing absolutely nothing FOR THE PEOPLE!
Thank you for not caring enough to provide TRUE HEALTH CARE REFORM! |

Copy of a letter I received from Congressman Dean Heller (R-NV) 03/20/10 regarding the above e-mail:
Dear Catana,
Thank you for contacting me to express your opposition to President Obama's healthcare proposal. I appreciate your input, and want you to know that I agree with you.
As you may know, I have consistently voted against healthcare proposals both in the Ways & Means Committee and on the House floor that would essentially result in a government takeover of America's healthcare system. House and Senate legislation, and now the President's proposal, simply tax too much, spend too much, and borrow too much without providing the sort of true reform our healthcare system needs. Like House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's 1,990 page bill, the President's proposal contains onerous mandates, dramatically raises taxes, cuts Medicare, and vastly expands government interference in our healthcare system. As small businesses struggle to stay afloat and keep their employees on payroll, this legislation also requires that employers provide health insurance or pay a substantial fine. This change will result in lower wages for many families already facing a difficult financial situation. Furthermore, this legislation does not include the safeguards necessary to prevent illegal immigrants from receiving taxpayer-funded healthcare benefits, which I strongly oppose.

Copy of an e-mail I sent to Senator Harry Reid (D-NV), Congressman Dean Heller (R-NV), and the White House on 03/17/10 about the Health Care Reform Bill:
I am writing to tell you that I would really like to support the health care reform bill.
However, I cannot and will not support any legislation that includes 'Mandatory' participation language.
We all listen to our elected officials talk about the necessity for 'Choice' to maintain a competitive 'Capitalist' market, yet anything 'Mandatory' is exactly the opposite.
Also, the current health care reform bill does not help people like myself that need certain medications the insurance companies won't pay for nor the issue of incompetence, etc.
When I read the language of the health care reform bill, posted on the Internet, I was very uncomfortable with the amount of favorability there is towards the insurance companies and the doctors. What happened to the patients...The People?
Despite the Fact that I, as well as many others, face the possibility of death on a daily basis, I cannot support the current health care reform bill as long as the 'Mandatory' participation language is included in it.
And, for the record, I do not wish for President Obama to fail, I do not wish for the Democrats to fail, the Republicans nor anybody else because We All fail if our government fails.
I do, however, put a lot of faith into those who demonstrate that they are For The People.
Sincerely,
Catana L Barnes |

Copy of an e-mail I sent to the White House 03/10/10 about the Filibuster:
The Filibuster:
I, like millions of other Americans, want health care reform, but we do not want a bastardized process that only tears our political process down further. I used to support the Reconcilliation, but after further thought and discussions with others, I have to agree that the end must be achieved by some other process. One suggestion I heard was limiting the number of times filibuster can be used, etc. I have not heard one word about people no longer wanting health care reform, we just don't want the government handling our health care and we do not want the insurance companies to have ANY say in our care one way or the other! NO CORPORATES in our health care! Plus, every single person I have spoken to, as well as myself, want the competency of doctors and other medical staff to be addressed and we do not want our ability to sue for medical malpractice taken away nor inhibited!!! It is either about the People, For the People, or it is just about the Corporates, For the Corporates...You Choose and then We'll Choose when we vote!

Copy of an e-mail I sent to the White House 03/10/10 about Federal Funding of Abortions:
This e-mail specifically addresses Federal Funding of Abortions.
The First Amendment clearly states:
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;..." Therefore, by not funding abortions the government is actually Recognizing an establishment of religion and in Violation of the First Amendment! Who, then, will be paying for all of the unwanted babies that are being born by the minute? Who, then, is going to raise those children to be healthy productive adults when the parent(s) do not even want the children as they are just a bi-product of sex (which is another problem)? Certainly, we do not have enough institutions to raise all of these children nor enough money to fund such programs (they are just children after all)! Also, once again, this is an issue for the woman who is pregnant to decide as it is HER body (the woman has the ultimate responsibility)! If the federal government continues to proceed with
a policy of not funding abortions, the government may well find itself in court! Stop Telling Women What We Can and Cannot Do! |

Copy of an e-mail I sent to the White House 03/03/10 about health care reform:
It is one thing to pass insurance reform, which is really what you are doing, versus Health Care reform that actually addresses "Health Care" and all that goes with that including incompetence!
If "Health Care" reform is not addressed you Will See the level of violence against doctors, nurses, lab techs, etc. increase!
I am already at that point myself after 40 years of BAD MEDICINE and recently finding out that some doctor stitched my sternum from top to bottom with sternotomy wires and never informed me of such actions!
Down with Incompetent Medical Care and Nazi Insurance Companies!
Again, protect the people or find out how far the American People are willing to go to protect themselves.
This debate over health care has come down to US or THEM, and health Insurance reform versus Health Care Reform!
I vote for both! |

Copy of an e-mail I sent to the White House, Senator Harry Reid (D-NV) and Congressman Dean Heller (R-NV) 02/09/10 about health care reform:
On January 19th, 2010, I went to a doctor for an SSI physical. When the doctor called my name I was coughing, because of my asthma, and he immediately stated he would not see me, I would have to reschedule as he does not see sick people. I explained that I was not sick, that I have severe asthma, etc. He continued to insist that I leave, reschedule and come back when I was at my norm. I got very upset and explained that was and is my norm. We moved into the patient room and I began coughing again. This is when the doctor told me he couldn't perform the physical because I was too sick and sent me to the emergency room.
I went to the emergency room, was indeed having an acute asthma attack and my blood pressure was high(195/126). They hooked me to an EKG monitor(I've had a previous heart attack) and it showed that I was in atrial fibrillation so they moved me to the cardiac area and began treating me there. A chest x-ray was performed (as well as other things).
About 15 minutes before I was released, the nurse came and asked me if I had ever had my chest opened up and I said no. I pointed out the thoracic outlet surgeries and she said that wasn't what they were looking for and left the room. About 5 minutes later another doctor came in and said my chest x-ray was fine but he wanted to know if my chest had ever been opened and, again, I said no. I asked why and he told me that I was stitched from the top of my sternum to the bottom with sternotomy wires! They wanted to know how they got there and I had no idea!
They released me to home.
Four days later, on January 22, 2010, I went to a clinic to get a pulmonary function test for SSI and ran into yet another problem. The doctor told my husband and me that they could not perform the test because I would die!
She said, "your blood pressure is too high, you will stroke out and you will die!" They refused to perform the test until I was normal with both the blood pressure and my breathing. Again, that was and is my norm. Apparently, I am too sick to be tested to see if I am sick enough to be declared disabled! HUH?
I am most disturbed by the sternotomy wires in my chest and now lose sleep over it! Who put them there, how did they put them there, and why didn't someone tell me?
Now, tell me, how is health care reform going to change this type of situation? |

President Barack Obama told Katie Couric during a Super Bowl pregame interview that he plans to hold a health-reform summit with congressional leaders later this month. “I want to come back [after the Presidents’ Day congressional recess] and have a large meeting -- Republicans and Democrats -- to go through, systematically, all the best ideas that are out there, and move it forward," Obama said.

President Barack Obama, speaking at the House Republican retreat in Baltimore, accuses Republicans of portraying health care reform as a "Bolshevik plot" and telling their constituents that he is "doing all kinds of crazy stuff that's going to destroy America."

"Any people anywhere, being inclined and having the power, have the right to rise up and shake off the existing government and form a new one that suits them better. This is a most valuable and sacred right--a right we hope and believe is to liberate the world."
Abraham Lincoln
Below are more of my favorite quotes...what are yours?
"The most heroic word in all languages is--REVOLUTION!"
Eugene Debs
"It is an observation of one of the profoundest inquiries into human affairs that a revolution of government is the strongest proof that can be given by a people, of their virtue and good sense."
John Adams
"In the abstract theory of our government the obedience of the citizen is not due to an unconstitutional law: he may lawfully resist its execution."
John Quincy Adams
"An oppressed people are authorized whenever they can to rise and break their fetters."
Henry Clay, politician
"If the State cannot survive the...agitation, then let the State perish. If the Church must be cast down by the sturgglings of Humanity to be free, then let the American Union be consumed by a living thungerbolt, and no tear shed over its ashes. If the Republic must be blotted out from the roll of nations, by proclaiming liberty to the captives, then let the Republic sink beneath the waves of oblivion, and a shout of joy, louder than the voice of many waters, fill the universe at its extinction."
William Lloyd Garrison
"Revolution is the only thing, the only power, that ever worked out freedom for any poeple. The powers that have ruled long, and learned to love ruling, will never give up that prerogative till they find they must, till they see the certainty of overthrow and destruction if they do not! ... To plant--to revolutionize--those are the twin stars that have ruled our pathway. What have we then to dread in the word Revolution--we, the children of rebels! We were born to be rebles--it runs in our blood."
Wendell Phillips
"Full opportunity for full development is the unalienable right of all. He who denies it is a tyrant, he who does not demand it is a coward; he who is indifferent to it is a slave; he who does not desire it is dead. The earth for all the people! That is the demand."
Eugene Debs
"If we do not soon bestir ourselves for a bloody revolution, we cannot leave anything to our children but poverty and slavery."
Die Arbeiter Zeitung, Chicago labor paper
"We can't have education without revolution. We have tried peace education for 1,900 years and it has failed. Let us try revolution and see what it will do now."
Hellen Keller
"Those who won our independence by revolution were not cowards. They did not fear political change. They did not exalt order at the cost of liberty."
Louis Brandeis, Supreme Court Justice
"That circumstances sometimes justify it...(revolution) is not Communist doctrine but an old American belief." Justice Jackson
"Wherever one goes in this civilized world, one always finds the same set-up. The little man, the man who does the dirty work, the producer is of no importance, recieves no consideration and is always being asked to make the greatest sacrifice. Yet everything depends on this forgotten man. Not a wheel could turn without his support and co-operation. It is this man, whose number is legion, who has no voice in world affairs...he knows that he has been robbed and cheated from time immemorial. He is suffocated with all this bitter knowledge. He waits and waits hoping that time will alter things. And slowly he realizes that time alters nothing, that with time things only grow worse. One day, he will decide to act. "Wait!" he will be told. "Wait just a little longer" But he will refuse to wait another second."
Henry Miller

"There is a political feudalism where a dynasty has the trappings of a parliamentary system but manipulates it for the benefit of the ruling class...Revolution in theTwentieth Century means rebellion against another kind of feudalism...economic feudalism...and the United States should promote democratic revolution against these conditions of economic feudalism."
William Douglas, Supreme Court Jusitice
"They set up the courts; they set up the police; they set up the army; they set up an educational system; they set up the newspaper; they set up all the apparatus to brainwash and to keep in subjugation. If we're going to be free, and we will not be fully free until we smash this state completely and totally...no people in this world have ever achieved independence and freedom through the ballot or having it legislated to them. (They) got their freedom through struggle and through revolution."
William Epton
