03/26/10-Copy of a letter from Congressman Dean Heller (R-NV) about protecting our children: |
How would you feel, and what would you think if you found out THIS HAPPENED TO YOU?
MEDICAL INCOMPETENCY needs to be addressed
and
I am posting an example of such MEDICAL INCOMPETENCY below:
On January 19, 2010, I went to a doctor appointment for an SSI exam to determine how 'sick' I am. It was a very cold morning which triggered my asthma (upgraded later to COPD) so I could not stop coughing despite the use of my inhaler. To make another long story short, the doctor ended up canceling the appointment and sending me to the ER because he said I was just too sick to continue so I left the appointment and went to Renown Regional Medical Center's Emergency Room. I was processed fairly quickly as it was visually apparent that I was not breathing well and, most likely, due to my blood pressure and a past MI. While the nurse and the pulmonary technician were busy treating my asthma, they noticed that I was in AFib (atrial fibrillation) which immediately got me transferred to the cardiac department of the ER. While I endured the process I had to go through, a chest x-ray was performed which led to a series of questions by the nurses (apparently, the doctor had no questions). I was asked, at least three times, if I had ever had surgery where my chest was opened up (as is done for open heart surgery) and I told them that the only time would have been during one of the two rib resection surgeries I had (it took longer because they had to spread my rib cage "further apart"-so I was told by a student surgeon). The nurses walked around and scratched their heads a few times before I asked them why they were asking that question. That is when I was told that my sternum was stitched from the top to the bottom with sternotomy wires. All I wanted to know was how it was possible for that to have taken place, but nobody had an answer. A short time later the doctor came in and released me, and he barely spoke a word!
I have been having trouble dealing with this information since I found out about it so I acquired a copy of the ER medical records and a copy of the x-ray earlier this week (09/20/10 & 09/21/10) to see for myself what they saw.
Here is a quick camera shot (cropped portion) of the x-ray from January 19, 2010 (I don't have a light box, but you can still see the wires):
I am angry, absolutely freaked out, and, now, completely, 100%, distrustful of doctors!
The small round wires go all the way to the bottom of my sternum, and the large wire is spiraling all throughout my chest!
According to what I have found on the Internet, there is no way to do this without opening up the chest like would be done for open heart surgery, but I have no scar (the ER doctor stated that I do). The last chest x-ray of mine that I saw was in, I think, 2003, and there weren't any wires then which means that the thoracic surgeon would not have been the one that placed them there as those surgeries were in 2000/2001.
The only logical and possible answer is what I will take responsibility for posting below:
In 2006, I spent four days in the hospital (Washoe Medical Center-now Renown) and had to have my gallbladder removed (I was sent there for multiple reasons). Well, the surgeon, Dr. Chu, apparently spent an additional 30 to 45 minutes inside of me, yet I haven't been successful at finding documentation that shows how long I was in the operating room. She not only told me that she was inside my body for the extra time, but she also stated that she was, "looking around to see if she could find the source of my pain." She then told me that she found a lot of adhesions, that she cut them and placed mylar at the ends so they would not grow back together (my spouse was present for a conversation on this topic at a later date). My primary care physician, at that time, even made a comment about the length of time it took for my surgery. He asked me if it took me longer than usual to come out of the anesthesia and I said no. I then told him what Dr. Chu told me and he said that was strange as she was noted for 30-minute gallbladder surgeries and he wasn't aware that she was going to do anything other than the gallbladder (I believe he said the time frame stated on my medical chart was one hour and fifteen minutes). I obtained a copy of my medical records from Dr. Chu and there isn't anything about the extra time she spent inside my body, or what she did while she was in there! The insurance records don't reflect the extra time either.
It should also be noted that not one of the medical staff had me performing breathing exercises after my surgery and I noticed a significant decline in my breathing capability since that time (by at least 60% to 70% of what it was before the surgery).
I cannot prove that Dr. Chu had anything to do with placing these wires in me, but she is the only one that had opportunity that doesn't seem to be accounted for. What doctor and/or hospital donates 30 to 45 minutes of their time out of the kindness of their greedy pockets? Again, this is the only logical and possible answer I can come up with!
There is so much more information that goes with the situation above that it is mind boggling!
I will be doing everything I can to get the message out that getting rid of INCOMPETENT DOCTORS should be the #1 priority in Health Care!
I am appalled at the fact that some doctor, at some point in time, took it upon themselves to put these wires in my body and NEVER TOLD ME! I am aslo appalled at the fact that there is NO ACCOUNTABILITY for what doctors do to people! My life is changed forever, and that doesn't seem to matter ethically, legally, or morally! Thanks America! Thank you for protecting incompetent, scumbag doctors and for not caring AT ALL what happens to patients (truck drivers are more regulated and watched than doctors)!
So much for placing trust in those who are supposed to be there to 'HELP' people!
NEVADA'S DOCTORS ARE THE WORST I HAVE HAD THE MISFORTUNE OF DEALING WITH (I have dealt with doctors in four states including Oklahoma which is the second worst)!
Every person I have shown my medical records and x-ray to say they will never trust another doctor and will avoid going to one! It really freaks people out to know that doctors can do whatever they want to you, and you, as the patient, really have no recourse of action unless you are completely aware, within one year of the 'incident', that something criminal and unethical has happened to you!!!
I have been dealing with doctors for 44 years and there are only a few of them that I feel validate their profession.

"Any people anywhere, being inclined and having the power, have the right to rise up and shake off the existing government and form a new one that suits them better. This is a most valuable and sacred right--a right we hope and believe is to liberate the world."
Abraham Lincoln
Below are more of my favorite quotes...what are yours?
"The most heroic word in all languages is--REVOLUTION!"
Eugene Debs
"It is an observation of one of the profoundest inquiries into human affairs that a revolution of government is the strongest proof that can be given by a people, of their virtue and good sense."
John Adams
"In the abstract theory of our government the obedience of the citizen is not due to an unconstitutional law: he may lawfully resist its execution."
John Quincy Adams
"An oppressed people are authorized whenever they can to rise and break their fetters."
Henry Clay, politician
"If the State cannot survive the...agitation, then let the State perish. If the Church must be cast down by the sturgglings of Humanity to be free, then let the American Union be consumed by a living thungerbolt, and no tear shed over its ashes. If the Republic must be blotted out from the roll of nations, by proclaiming liberty to the captives, then let the Republic sink beneath the waves of oblivion, and a shout of joy, louder than the voice of many waters, fill the universe at its extinction."
William Lloyd Garrison
"Revolution is the only thing, the only power, that ever worked out freedom for any poeple. The powers that have ruled long, and learned to love ruling, will never give up that prerogative till they find they must, till they see the certainty of overthrow and destruction if they do not! ... To plant--to revolutionize--those are the twin stars that have ruled our pathway. What have we then to dread in the word Revolution--we, the children of rebels! We were born to be rebles--it runs in our blood."
Wendell Phillips
"Full opportunity for full development is the unalienable right of all. He who denies it is a tyrant, he who does not demand it is a coward; he who is indifferent to it is a slave; he who does not desire it is dead. The earth for all the people! That is the demand."
Eugene Debs
"If we do not soon bestir ourselves for a bloody revolution, we cannot leave anything to our children but poverty and slavery."
Die Arbeiter Zeitung, Chicago labor paper
"We can't have education without revolution. We have tried peace education for 1,900 years and it has failed. Let us try revolution and see what it will do now."
Hellen Keller
"Those who won our independence by revolution were not cowards. They did not fear political change. They did not exalt order at the cost of liberty."
Louis Brandeis, Supreme Court Justice
"That circumstances sometimes justify it...(revolution) is not Communist doctrine but an old American belief." Justice Jackson
"Wherever one goes in this civilized world, one always finds the same set-up. The little man, the man who does the dirty work, the producer is of no importance, recieves no consideration and is always being asked to make the greatest sacrifice. Yet everything depends on this forgotten man. Not a wheel could turn without his support and co-operation. It is this man, whose number is legion, who has no voice in world affairs...he knows that he has been robbed and cheated from time immemorial. He is suffocated with all this bitter knowledge. He waits and waits hoping that time will alter things. And slowly he realizes that time alters nothing, that with time things only grow worse. One day, he will decide to act. "Wait!" he will be told. "Wait just a little longer" But he will refuse to wait another second."
Henry Miller

"There is a political feudalism where a dynasty has the trappings of a parliamentary system but manipulates it for the benefit of the ruling class...Revolution in theTwentieth Century means rebellion against another kind of feudalism...economic feudalism...and the United States should promote democratic revolution against these conditions of economic feudalism."
William Douglas, Supreme Court Jusitice
"They set up the courts; they set up the police; they set up the army; they set up an educational system; they set up the newspaper; they set up all the apparatus to brainwash and to keep in subjugation. If we're going to be free, and we will not be fully free until we smash this state completely and totally...no people in this world have ever achieved independence and freedom through the ballot or having it legislated to them. (They) got their freedom through struggle and through revolution."
William Epton
"God forbid we should ever be twenty years without...a rebellion."
Thomas Jefferson
