Unfortunately, too many of us feel that our individual voices do not matter and will never be heard. As a result, too many people do not Speak Up or Speak Out! 
 
Personally, I have experienced great frustration over how difficult it is, if not how impossible it is, to obtain the most basic of information related to our rights as American Citizens and Laborers. 
 
Therefore, the goal of this website is to inform people and reassure them, through personal accounts, they are not alone in their experiences and need to be heard!

Where does one begin when providing a list of bad & criminal behavior by Walmart...there are way too many things to list here but I'll provide several examples of why this corporation should be brought to its knees...Down With Corporate America!
 
Walmart tells newly hired employees that all of the news about the 'bad' things they have done is a complete lie.
 
Walmart demands that their employees participate in a 'spirit' chant before they begin their shift.

Spheris
an online medical transcription company out of Franklin, Tennessee (Recently acquired by Medquist in a bankruptcy proceeding) that I hired on with in August, 2007 after graduating, with high honors, from an accredited medical transcription course. During my seven months of employment I maintained a 99.5% to 100% accuracy rate and was promoted to an entry level 2 MTE/MT (medical text editor--medical transcriptionist) after 6 months of employment!  

However, in 7 short months, all I got from them was:
Problems with W-4; improper tax deductions; it took three pay periods to correct due to Payroll games (I was e-mailed a copy of form W-4, I filled it out, I faxed it back, and it was denied because it wasn't a legal copy--faxed.  I had to send a copy via regular postal service).
401k Fraud! I received a company email to sign up for, or opt out of, the 401k program, I went to the given website and opted out. Upon review of my next paycheck stub I found that I had been fraudulently signed up for the 401k program and money had been taken from me. I contacted my employer's payroll department and the investment company and outright accused them of fraud. They, the investment company, agreed to close the 401k account after I told them that I was going to turn them and my employer in to The Securities and Exchange Commission (my employer denies any responsibility for the 401k program).

Medical insurance; Costly misunderstanding.  In short, I signed my family and I up for medical, dental and vision insurance, and, due to a misunderstanding, it cost twice what was expected!  However, as it turned out, this was not a "qualifying" health plan (special tax provision which allows them to pay a lower minimum wage...see Laws, Policies & More) and became the primary evidence for my wage claim which I won!
 
Workers’ Comp nightmare!  On the day of the incident, a Sunday, I e-mailed my supervisor and I left a voice mail stating that I had a work related injury.  However, there is no supervision on Sundays so I received no reply.  On Monday I e-mailed my supervisor again and she came back with a snotty remark--"what do you want me to do about it?"--so I informed her of company policy on reporting an industrial injury and I never heard from her again.  After a long period of time I received an e-mail from the HR Benefits Administrator containg an industrial injury report form which I filled out and e-mailed back.  After an hour passed, I e-mailed the HR Benefits Rep back and asked what I was suppoed to do and he asked if I had been to a doctor and I said no.  He then told me I had to pay to see a doctor, have the doctor determine that the injury is work related, fax him a copy of the doctor's report, and then he would decide whether or not I had a workers' comp claim (illegal).  I went to my doctor's office, which was also an Industrial Clinic, had problems with the receptionist letting me see the doctor, saw the doctor who determined that I did have a work related injury and began treatment which included total temporary disabilty.  The HR Benefits Rep told me to fax him the doctor's report, but he repeatedly rejected the copies I sent saying he could not see them.  I had the doctor's office send a few copies for me , but they refused to continue doing it for me.  After more than three weeks of treatment, I received a phone call from the administrating insurance company's claim handler and he wanted to know who had the form C-4.  I informed him that I had a copy, the doctor's office had a copy, and my employer had  a copy and then I asked why? He said he did not have a copy  as he never received one (mandatory by state law that he receive a copy within 5 days of the reported injury).  I called and had words with the HR Benefits Rep, he screamed at me ("listen up little missy!"), I screamed back at him, and told him I would be going after him and my employer, Shperis! 
~I have taken many actions against my employer, the doctor's office, and the insurance company and I have prevailed in every case that has been settled!
 
*I filed a wage claim against SPHERIS for improperly paid wages. Here are the 5 (FIVE) labor laws they were found to be in violation of:
 
1. Nevada Constitution~Failure to pay minimum wage.
2. NAC 608.102~Minimum wage lower rate qualification.
3. NAC 608.104~Insurance premium exceeds 10 percent gross taxable income.
4. NRS 608.040~Failure to pay in a timely manner.
5. NRS 608.195~Every person violating any of the provisions of NRS 608.005 to 608.190, inclusive, is guilty of a misdemeanor.
 
 
Two of Spheris' clients are Scott & White out of Texas and Stanford Medical Center out of California.
 
~I am currently dealing with SPHERIS illegally placing me on FMLA (family medical leave of absence) and taking money from me. Come back soon to see what was accomplished.

More employers who behave badly & criminally:
Anixter (Reno, NV):  This company penalizes people for quitting on the spot or giving two weeks notice. Nevada is a right-to-work state and under Nevada law an employer and an employee may terminate employment for any reason and two weeks notice is not required.  This company states that an employee who does not give two weeks notice is never rehirable!  Again, illegal by Nevada labor law.
 
Barrels O' Candy (Virginia City, NV):  The owner of this store took unemployment insurance money from the employee and failed to pay that insurance to the state and when the employee was let go there wasn't any money paid in on their behalf.  The former employee received no benefits and the store owner got away with stealing money from him!
 
Cabela's (Reno, NV):  Failed to pay prevailing wages to the workers who built their store.  The city of Reno filed a wage claim on behalf of the workers, and, the last I heard, Cabela's told the city of Reno that they were not going to pay any prevailing wages and the issue is going before the Nevada Supreme Court. Corporate Scumb!!! 
 
 
 
 
Dogz, Inc. (Reno, NV):  This company makes employees work off of the clock and fails to pay Nevada minimum wage!
 
Hobey's Casino & Restaraunt (Sun Valley, NV):  This company violates Nevada's minimum wage law and the law about uniforms. NRS 608.250 & NRS 608.165
 
Rainbow Market (Sun Valley, NV):  The manager counts the cashiers' cash drawers in the back room without them and then tells them their drawer is short...usually $50 short.  After an employee's cash drawer comes up short twice, they are terminated and never allowed back into any of their stores.  It appears the manager is stealing money and blaming the employees!
West (Reno, NV):  This company steals hours from their employees!
 
Winner's Corner (Reno, NV):  This company violates Nevada labor laws.  NRS 608.165 All uniforms or accessories distinctive as to style, color or material shall be furnished, without cost, to employees by their employer.  Our son was hired and fired within 24 hours because he had not purchased the proper color shoes and the proper texture pants!
